Carl Barât & Dirty Pretty Things
Too often hidden by the antics of his former accomplice and best friend Pete Doherty, Carl Barât was the driving force of the Libertines, the band which was instrumental in the return of guitar rock in Europe. After the split of the best English band since the Clash, Carl Barât started his own, the Dirty Pretty Things, with which he recorded two albums of savage British rock. Following a solo carrier, Carl Barât appears occasionally on European stages, possibly waiting to reform the band which made him famous.
Laura Marling
Laura Marling, the highly talented escapee from Noah and the Whale, set fire to Europe in 2008 with her first album “Alas I cannot Swim”, which was nominated in England for the prestigious Mercury Prize with her delicate folk, modern but respectful of the music’s roots. Barely 19 years old, armed with the freshness and passion of youth, Laura Marling is making her mark, somewhere between Joni Mitchell and Regina Spektor.
Paris Motel
Although we often get to meet bands who dream of proud Albion, the opposite is not as common. Yet, Paris Motel is one of those bands who have been very inspired by the Parisian lifestyle. “The Salpetrière”, their first album, is a collection of stories featuring strange and mysterious characters, sung by Amy May’s sexy voice.
